Well, here we are again, it is 22nd January, we are very happily ensconced in the Crown Lanta Resort on Ko Lanta island, Thailand and I have finally managed to get Val’s laptop to work with the hotel wifi. It really does not like switching hotels and so I have been learning a lot about flushing the DNS cache and other things to try to get it to connect. Needless to say, that despite initiating all sorts of wonderous incantations (swearing mostly), deletions, reboots and troubleshooting, when the thing finally decided to work, I have no idea which bit of my IT marvels was responsible. At least we are here for 3 weeks, so I trust it will not happen again.
So on with the blog and my perennial apologies for the whole exercise turning more and more into a history book, than a blog. Now, where were we, oh yes, we were overnighting in Coimbatore before setting off for Madurai about 4 hours drive south east.
10th January, 2019 – On the Road to Madurai
I almost forgot! Indeed, I can hear you now – ‘John, hang on. What about your hotel room in Coimbatore?’ I do apologise. Very comfortable, business oriented hotel, where everything worked excellently and Val was able to get a fairly decent Chinese meal (for the vegetables, you know).

The journey to Madurai was fairly uneventful, at least as far as any journey in India is uneventful with 3 lane roads transformed into 6 or 7 lane ones.

We arrived safely at our next lovely hotel, The Heritage, and, armed with GPS, familiarised ourselves with our latest enormous room and bathroom.
I would add that the hotel were very friendly (note my garland below, and it had a very attractive pool in the style of the tank (sic) adjacent to temples in these parts. A very hospitable bunch of Kiwis in the rooms downstairs invited us in for a drink or two and a very merry time was had by yours truly (they were very generous with the rum!).

OK, that is 10th January and we are off for our first yoga session (wish me luck!), so I will publish this, while you get ready for Madurai in the next blog.
Cheers
Tanks very much, John! (Groan – sorry about the pun …) Bon voyage for your onward travels, and much love, James
