16th to 18th February, 2023
Well, as you can guess, the 16th and most of the 17th Feb were spent in our cabin, with a one hour visit to the ‘exercise yard’. We survived well enough, though Val is like a caged lioness at times!! We arrived in Dallman Bay on the Antarctic tip around teatime on 17th Feb and it certainly started to get impressive.

The passage down was remarkably easy on the whole and even had some sunshine. We tried to see what we could see through our window, though nothing beats being outside. Definitely getting colder!

We arrived in Dallman Bay mid-afternoon and although the weather was not quite as sunny, it was not too bad (we are in the Antarctic!!). Fortunately we organised our one-hour session on the balcony for mid-afternoon and for 2 hours so that it coincided with the Neumayer Channel and it was very well timed….

Unfortunately we had to go back to our cabin at 5.30pm, but we did manage a sighting of Port Lockroy, which sounded a lot grander than it was…

We are out of isolation, but still have the complimentary Wi-Fi, so I will publish this right now!! More soon….
Fabulous photos John!!!! Very exciting to see. And I am so pleased that you are finally out of isolation – with wifi! How good can life get!!! I think one or two photos towards the end may not have got through – there seem to be a few captions which give an idea of what photos you might have sent. Occasionally they don’t all come through to begin with – hopefully in a day or two. Greatly looking forward to your next tranche! L xxx
